Established in 2020 with workshops in drama and musical theatre, the academy has expanded to weekly group and soloist lessons.

Whanganui Performing Arts Academy The objects of the Society are as follows:
- To advance education by promoting, encouraging, and fostering the continuation of young people in the performing arts through the study of Performing Arts, or any other subject selected by the Executive Council.
- To attend Annual Competitions and produce showcases/plays/musicals to provide a local platform for children and youth to perform in various art forms under independent professional adjudication or any other related function which would be of benefit to such performers.
- To award prizes to the successful competitors and to select nominees from such competitions to compete at the National Young Performer Awards held in Palmerston North each year.
- To make donations, scholarships or grants to such persons or institutions as the Society may think expedient.
